Every note-taking app eventually shuts down, changes owner, or adds a subscription. Plain text has outlived all of them.
Three rules
- One folder, dated filenames, no nesting deeper than two levels.
- Markdown for structure, never for layout.
- Anything that cannot survive a
grepdoes not belong in the note.
The workflow is unremarkable on purpose. Its only feature is that it still opens.
